Swim Lessons Descriptions:

Level 6Swimming and Skill Proficiency - Instructors perfect swimmers technique in all 4 of the competitive strokes, and teach swimmers different turns, starts and broaden their swimming education.  Swimmers may continue in Level 6 indefinitely or participate in the Spartans Swim Team.

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement - Swimmers continue to improve their education and swimming technique, refining the 4 competitive strokes and learning new drills and ideas that allow swimmers to understand what it takes to go fast.  Completing Level 5 requires swimmers to legally swim the 4 strokes.

Level 4Stroke Improvement - Instructors will teach all 4 of the competitive swimming strokes with the goal of having swimmers able to be completely safe in the water and (perhaps) ready for lower level swim team participation.  Completing Level 4 requires swimmers to be competent in all strokes.

Level 3Stroke Development - Swimmers begin to learn how to swim the crawl, backstroke, and the breaststroke and butterfly kicks.  Diving and swimming underwater take on an increased importance as swimmers have fun retrieving dive toys from the bottom.  Completing Level 3 requires swimmers to be able to comfortably swim the back and crawl for 15 meters and tread water for 1 minute (amongst other skills).

Level 2 Fundamental Aquatics Skills - ages 4+ - Swimmers learn how to be self-sufficient in the water by learning skills including rolling over on their back, It is suggested that older learn to swim candidates comfortable in the water, begin in Level 2.  Completing Level 2 requires swimmers to be comfortable in the deep end and be able to float on their backs(amongst other skills).

Level 1Introduction to Water Skills - ages 3+ - Instructors help swimmers feel comfortable in the water by providing a safe and learning experience for learn-to-swimmers as young as 3 years old.  Swimmers do not learn how to swim, rather they are introduced to skills and safety measures that will provide the foundation of their swimming experience.  Completing Level 1 requires swimmers be able to kick on a board and be comfortable in the water (amongst other skills)

Parent/Tot - Infant/Toddler Aquatics - ages 3 & under - Parents and toddlers have fun and bond with their children in a safe and protected environment.  Instructors offer parents with tools and methods to teach their kids the basics in kicking, floatation and water safety.  To complete Parent/Tot swimmers must be 3 years old.

Swimming with Disabilities - Swimmers with learning disabilities will enjoy the opportunity to learn how to be safe and respectful of the water.  Instructors teach swimmers how to accomplish aquatics related tasks while giving them the confidence to be in and around a pool.
